One person is in critical condition after being shot in Westwood on Saturday morning, according to the LAPD.

The shooting occurred at around 3:50 a.m. near the corner of Le Conte Avenue and Broxton Avenue, said LAPD spokesperson Jeffrey Lee.

There is one suspect who fled the scene by car, Lee said. The LAPD does not yet have a description of the suspect or their vehicle, he added.

The patient is in critical condition at a local hospital, Lee said. Lee did not specify which hospital the victim was taken to.

The investigation is ongoing, Lee said.

The victim is a Black male in his 40s, said LAPD spokesperson Norma Eisenman.

The victim was talking to the suspect while standing outside the suspect’s vehicle, Eisenman said. The suspect then drove away and later returned and fired multiple rounds at the victim, she added.

The LAPD has not yet identified a suspect.
