Crimewatch: June 1-18, 2022



UCPD recorded 334 unique entries in its June 1 to 18 daily crime log.

University police received 61 crime reports from June 1 to Saturday that resulted in active police cases. Of the 61 crime reports resulting in cases, 37 were open cases and 24 were closed or inactive as of Sunday, according to a UCPD crime and fire log. Theft and burglary was the most common category, with 25 reports resulting in cases, followed by seven reports of drug and controlled substance, according to the log. UCPD also recorded 273 events that did not result in active cases, with the following statuses as of Sunday:

Non-criminal matter: 56

Warned or advised: 20

Canceled (by any party): 36

Victim not desirous of report: 13

Referred to outside agency: 11

Unfounded: 0

Of the 273 incidents not resulting in cases, three were categorized as rape or other sex crime. UCPD categorized zero events as rape reports, zero as sexual battery reports and three as indecent exposure reports. Data for this story was obtained as a public record under the Jeanne Clery Act, which requires universities to report campus crime data.
