U.S. News and World Report ranked the UCLA Anderson School of Management, Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, School of Education and Information Studies, School of Nursing, and the Luskin School of Public Affairs in the top 20 graduate schools for each respective program.
The rankings – released Tuesday – looked at schools’ overall academic quality, which included aspects such as retention rates, preparation for professional life and, with lower weight this year than in previous years, academic reputation. The media organization ranked UCLA and UC Berkeley as the No. 1 public universities in the nation in September.

The School of Management ranked 19th in business schools for full-time MBAs and fifth for part-time. It was previously ranked 17th and fifth, respectively, for the 2022-2023 academic year. The top three schools for full-time MBAs were the University of Chicago, Northwestern University and the University of Pennsylvania. The Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley ranked 11th for full-time and first for part-time MBAs, and the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California ranked 15th for full-time.
Samueli School of Engineering ranked 16th in engineering schools for the second year in a row, with U.S. News placing the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University and UC Berkeley as first, second and third. The Jacobs School of Engineering at UC San Diego ranked 12th, and the USC Viterbi School of Engineering ranked 15th.
UCLA also ranked seventh for its School of Education and Information Studies, tying with Stanford and dropping from the previous year’s third place ranking. The Teachers College at Columbia University and University of Michigan – Ann Arbor tied for the first place ranking, with Northwestern taking third. UC Irvine was ranked 11th, and UC Berkeley tied for 14th with the University of Oregon.
UCLA School of Nursing tied with Rutgers University for 14th in the nation, with Emory University, then John Hopkins University and lastly the University of Pennsylvania in the top three spots, respectively. UCLA’s ranking rose from 19th last year. UC San Francisco tied for 11th with the University of Alabama – Birmingham and the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
Finally, the Luskin School tied for 10th with eight other schools, including Princeton University and Arizona State University, after previously ranking 12th last year. The first, second and third place universities were Indiana University – Bloomington, Syracuse University and Harvard University. UC Berkeley and USC both tied for fourth with the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.
