One of two candidates for Undergraduate Students Association Council Community Service commissioner attended the first of the USAC 2023-2024 Candidate Debates on Wednesday.

The USA Elections Board and the Daily Bruin co-hosted a series of debates beginning at 7 p.m. between candidates in the upcoming USAC election. One candidate, Chia Ying Wong, was present. The other candidate, Kobe Dar, did not attend the debate.

Wong, a second-year education and social transformation and English student, said she hopes to use her experience as the community service program support director to increase the impact of the work the office does. Wong added that she wants to grow coalitions between different service organizations, ensuring collaboration across different fields of expertise.

“As an aspiring educator, I am deeply passionate about community engagement and advocacy,” she said. “I am determined to build on the strengths and bridge gaps within the UCLA service landscape to empower Bruins to engage in purposeful service.”

Students can vote in the election on MyUCLA starting Friday at noon and ending May 12 at 2 p.m.
