UCPD searches for suspect in 2 attempted off-campus break-ins

UCPD is searching for a suspect after two reported attempted break-ins over the weekend.

The attempted breaking and entering took place off campus on the 3200 block of Sawtelle Boulevard at about 9:52 p.m. Sunday, according to a UCPD crime alert sent Monday afternoon.

A second victim also reported a burglary on the 3300 block of Sawtelle Boulevard that occurred between July 7 and 9.

The suspect reportedly attempted to enter the first victim’s bedroom window while they were inside but failed.

The second victim later reported an unwitnessed burglary of jewelry and documents.

The suspect was reportedly about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a thin build and wearing a black hat.

Both of the victims are UCLA students, according to the alert.

No injuries were reported related to the incidents.

A silver older model Honda sedan with no plates was seen in the area, possibly related to the incidents, according to the report.

This case is currently under investigation. Anyone with information can call UCPD at 310-825-1491.
