The city closed a section of the Interstate 10 freeway in downtown Los Angeles because of a fire early Saturday morning, according to the Emergency Management Department.
Gov. Newsom declared a state of emergency Saturday calling for the cleanup and repair of the I-10 and directing Caltrans to potentially request assistance using the Federal Highway Administration’s Emergency Relief Program.
A pallet yard near Downtown LA underneath the I-10 caught fire and spread.
Caltrans District 7 said Sunday in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the freeway remains closed in both directions between the East LA interchange and Alameda Street until further notice and notified drivers to use public transit as an alternative.
