The original version of this article also incorrectly stated that students can vote in the Undergraduate Students Association Council elections from May 3 to May 10. In fact, they can vote from May 10 to May 17.

The sole candidate for Undergraduate Students Association Council Community Service commissioner attended a debate Wednesday.

The Elections Board and the Daily Bruin co-hosted a series of debates between candidates in the upcoming USAC election. One candidate is running unopposed for the position of Community Service commissioner.

Carolyn Wang, a third-year public affairs and statistics and data science student, said she hopes to expand the commission’s efforts into previously unreached areas of the UCLA community using her experience as the commission’s external programs director. Wang added that she hopes to cultivate an office that focuses on diversity, advocacy, collaboration, accessibility and transparency across all aspects of the commission.

Wang said she hopes to increase the commission’s collaboration with more communities and local organizations to encourage involvement across student groups on campus. She added that her passion for the commission’s goals and aspirations makes her well-equipped for the role.

“Being part of the Community Service Commission for the past two years, I’ve gained the institutional knowledge needed to lead this office and improve community service,” she said. “If elected, I’m committed to fostering a campus environment where all Bruins can be involved in service.”

Students can vote in the election on MyUCLA starting May 10 and ending May 17.
