Gallery: Vampire Weekend performs in front of sold-out crowd at Hollywood Bowl

(Michael Gallagher/Assistant Photo editor)

On a clear Wednesday night in the Hollywood Hills, Vampire Weekend performed at the Hollywood Bowl in front of a sold-out crowd as part of its “Only God Was Above Us” tour. It followed up The English Beat and Voodoo Glow Skulls, both of which drew heavily from ska, a Jamaican meld of jazz, R&B and Caribbean music. Vampire Weekend’s lead singer, Ezra Koenig, deemed it a “Ska Night,” adding that ska was “one of the 17 secret ingredients of our proprietary sound.”
