Crimewatch: September 2024

UCPD recorded 621 unique entries in its Sept. 1 to Sept. 30 daily crime log.

Out of those, 138 crime reports resulted in active police cases. Of these 138 crime reports, 73 were open cases and 65 were closed or inactive as of Oct. 1, according to a UCPD crime and fire log.

Theft and burglary was the most common category, with 48 reports resulting in cases, followed by 15 reports of drug and controlled substance incidences, according to the log.

UCPD also recorded 483 events that did not result in active cases, with the following statuses as of Oct. 1:

Of the 483 incidents not resulting in cases, eight were categorized as rape or another sex crime. UCPD categorized five events as rape reports, one as sexual battery reports and two as indecent exposure reports.

Data for this story was obtained as a public record under the Jeanne Clery Act, which requires universities to report campus crime data.
