UCPD searches for 3 suspects in off-campus hate crime toward students

UCPD is searching for three individuals suspected of an off-campus battery and hate crime Saturday. 

According to a crime alert sent around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, five students were sitting on the bus stop bench outside Chick-fil-A around 12:45 a.m., when a dark-colored SUV with three passengers drove past them yelling a racial slur. The front passenger then threw an open water bottle out the window, which struck one of the victims.

The victims were UCLA students, according to the alert.

There are three suspects in the case, according to the alert. The driver was reported as a blonde male in his 20s, the front passenger was reportedly a male in his 20s with dark hair wearing a white T-shirt and the rear passenger was reportedly a white or Asian male.

UCPD is searching for a dark-colored SUV. No injuries were reported. 

This case is currently under investigation. Anyone with information can call UCPD at 310-825-1491.
