Jack Thompson, the president of Bruin Democrats, said at the club’s watch party at Royce Hall that he is nervous because he has seen better results. He added that he has two main fears about tonight’s results.

“No. 1, that we lose outright, because I think a second Trump presidency seems to be devastating for the country,” said Thompson, a fourth-year linguistics and computer science student. “The second biggest fear is that we win by an extremely narrow margin and see some sort of systemic, orchestrated political violence.”

During the Bruin Democrats’ watch party at Royce Hall, Thompson also gave a brief speech. He said students should attend the club career fair, quipping that it was an avenue for them to take their minds off the party’s potential loss in the presidential race.

“As you can all see right now, it’s not done yet, but things could be going better,” Thompson said in a speech. “No matter how things end up here, there’s going to be runoffs. There’s going to be more work to do.”
