Los Angeles voters failed to pass Measure G by a margin of 50.6%, according to the LA Times. Measure G would have modified the LA County Charter to enlarge the LA County Board of Supervisors from five to nine members and create a new executive position elected by constituents rather than appointed by the board. The referendum also proposed to institute an ethics commission and require both county departments and agencies to publish their annual budgets.
