In Sunday’s matchup against then-No.1 South Carolina (5-1), then-No. 5 UCLA women’s basketball (5-0) took home a resounding victory, unseating the top team in the nation 77-62.
Prior to their showdown against the Bruins, the Gamecocks were on a 43-game win streak and had been undefeated on the road since December 2021. UCLA, led by a 15-point showing from junior guard Londynn Jones, snapped the reigning champions’ win streak and claimed the No. 1 spot for itself in this week’s Associated Press poll.
