USAC President Adam Tfayli said in a written statement he was told by a member of the UCLA administration around 3:30 p.m. that the university is communicating with emergency services but does not anticipate an immediate threat to campus or issues pertaining to air quality. Tfayli added that the administrator said they are aware that some students, faculty and staff have been displaced.

Patel is the 2025-2026 managing editor and was previously the 2024-2025 campus politics editor. He is also News and Copy staff. Patel is a third-year mathematics/economics student from Gilberts, Illinois.
