Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, whose district represents UCLA, said she was given an order to evacuate at her own home yesterday evening. She added that the impacts of the fire have been extremely depressing for people who have had to evacuate.

“No one should have to choose which priceless memento they’re going to take with them or leave behind in order to stay safe,” she said. “The Pacific Palisades has suffered immensely – immense loss, and my heart goes out to all of the residents who are continuing to try to understand what is left of their homes.”

A number of faith centers across the Palisades have been lost to the fires, creating additional grief for members of the religious community, Horvath said at the conference.

Horvath also said Santa Monica had to issue a curfew yesterday evening because of concerns about looting and other criminal activities taking advantage of the impacts of the fires. Metro fares will also remain suspended through Thursday, but people without essential travel are advised to remain indoors, she said.
