At the 8 a.m. press conference, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Morrone said the Eaton Fire, which started in Pasadena and Altadena and has an unknown cause, currently has a size of 10,600 acres. Although 879 firefighters are assigned to the fire, there is 0% containment, he said.

“We are appreciative to our fire partners from throughout the Western United States for providing assistance to Los Angeles County in our time of need,” he said at the conference.

Morrone also said the red flag warnings issued by the National Weather Service, which warn of potential extreme wildfire behavior, is expected to stay in place through Friday.
