In the news:

A disaster recovery center will be opening at the UCLA Research Park – formerly the Westside Pavilion mall – at 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to an emailed statement from Mayor Karen Bass’ office. The center will provide aid to people who have lost government records in fires, give information about disaster relief loans and refer people to government services.

“Use of the newly acquired 700,000-square-foot property two miles from the Westwood campus will open under the direction of FEMA as a central hub for evacuated residents, offering aid to those who have lost their home, business, and/or vital records,” said UCLA spokesperson Ricardo Vazquez in an emailed statement.

As of 6:40 p.m. Monday, there are no evacuation warnings or orders covering the UCLA campus.”
