UCLA Chancellor Julio Frenk released a video message Tuesday outlining UCLA’s ongoing response to the fires.
UCLA has been hosting town halls – including two Tuesday – so senior administrators can answer questions on the university response to the fires, Frenk said in the video. More than 4,000 people joined one such webinar aimed at faculty and staff Monday, he said.
The UCLA Volunteer Center is making 500 emergency packages for members of the campus community impacted by the fires, Frenk said, adding that UCLA has donated a site on the former Westside Pavilion to disaster recovery efforts.
“We have donated space at the UCLA Research Park for a disaster recovery center,” he said in the video. “This opens this afternoon as it’s being set up by FEMA and the city of Los Angeles. It is a one-stop-shop of services for those impacted by the fire on the Westside.”
UCLA is not under any evacuation warnings or orders as of 4:25 p.m. Tuesday. However, an area adjacent to the campus at its northeastern corner continues to be under evacuation warning.
