Los Angeles County supervisors addressed the ongoing effects of the countywide fires at the LA County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday. The board planned to support people who have been affected by the fires by enforcing an LA Fire Recovery Fund to support rebuilding efforts, combat price gouging and protect people from fraud.

Supervisor Kathryn Barger said the Board plans streamline rebuilding efforts by mitigating red tape as much as possible throughout the county as well as by establishing clear and well-known precedent about what FEMA can realistically provide for Angelenos affected by the fires.

“Individuals can receive a maximum of $43,600 to meet pressing needs like housing, medical and dental care and, unfortunately, funeral costs,” Barger said.
