UCPD recorded 642 unique entries in its Sept. 1 to Sept. 30 daily crime log.
The department received 142 crime reports from Sept. 1 to Sept. 30 that resulted in active police cases. Of these 142, 70 were open cases and 72 were closed or inactive as of Oct. 3, according to a UCPD crime and fire log.
Theft and burglary was the most common category, with 60 reports resulting in cases, followed by 22 reports of traffic and vehicle-related incidents, according to the log.
UCPD also recorded 500 events that did not result in active cases, with the following statuses as of Oct. 3:

Eight of the 500 incidents not resulting in cases were categorized as rape or sex crimes. UCPD categorized one event as a rape report, three as sexual battery reports and four as indecent exposure reports.
Data for this story was obtained as a public record under the Jeanne Clery Act, which requires universities to report campus crime data.
