UCPD recorded 847 unique entries in its Oct. 1 to Oct. 31 daily crime log.

The department received 154 crime reports from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31 that resulted in active police cases. Of these 154, 88 were open cases and 66 were closed or inactive as of Nov. 2, according to a UCPD crime and fire log.

Theft and burglary was the most common category, with 72 reports resulting in cases, followed by 14 reports of traffic and vehicle-related incidents, according to the log.

UCPD also recorded 693 events that did not result in active cases, with the following statuses as of Nov. 2:

Information only: 59

Non-criminal matter: 111

Warned or advised: 67

Canceled (by any party): 50

Victim not desirous of report: 26

Referred to outside agency: 31

Unable to locate: 35

Ten of the 693 incidents not resulting in cases were categorized as sex crimes. UCPD categorized three events as rape reports, two as sexual battery reports and five as indecent exposure reports.

Data for this story was obtained as a public record under the Jeanne Clery Act, which requires universities to report campus crime data.
