Five-foot fences and UCPD officers carrying wooden batons surrounded Gateway Plaza and the Meyer and Renee Luskin Conference Center – where the UC Board of Regents is set to meet Tuesday through Thursday – at 9 a.m. At least one officer only had his badge number – and not his name – visible on the front chest of his uniform.

Members of AFSCME Local 3299 picketed between Ackerman Union and the Luskin Conference Center, using sirens and chanting, “UC, UC, you’re no good, treat your workers like you should.” The UC Regents’ Health Services Committee is set to discuss collective bargaining during a closed session Tuesday.
