Now on its 51st season, “Saturday Night Live” has taken on a new life in Westwood.

Jiya Singh, a third-year cognitive science and communication student, brought an adaptation of the long-running comedy show to Ackerman Grand Ballroom in partnership with UCLA Radio on Friday night. A mix of live sketches and prerecorded video segments, Westwood Night Live touched on topics pertaining to the college town’s culture, including Bruin Walk ragebaiters, heated dining hall debates and overzealous research studies.

The student-led performance lasted about two hours and featured guest host Celine Parreñas Shimizu, the dean of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television as well as musical guest The Situations. UCLA Radio, the organizer of Westwood Night Live, is overseen by the ASUCLA Communications Board, which also publishes the Daily Bruin.

Once the final laughs rang out, the crowd rose for a standing ovation.
