The sole candidate for the Undergraduate Students Association Council Student Wellness commissioner pledged to connect students with health resources at a Thursday debate.
The USA Elections Board and the Daily Bruin co-hosted a series of debates between candidates in the upcoming USAC election. Daniela Castro, who currently serves as an SWC platforms committee member, is running unopposed.
Castro, a third-year political science and statistics and data science student, said she aims to help students navigate stressors such as rising living costs. She added that she wants to use SWC funding to pay for health programs that improve students’ lives.
She also said during the debate that she hopes to better advertise resources to first-year students. Advertising resources at events like New Student Orientation and Bruin Day is important for connecting new students to resources before they start school, Castro added.
“I want to make sure that students have overall wellness because wellness encompasses so many different things,” Castro said.
Students can vote in the election on MyUCLA starting May 8 at 8 a.m. until May 15 at noon.
