Gallery: Rain didn’t deflate the energy at UCLA’s bike-powered Coastalong music festival

(Presley Liu/Daily Bruin)

Students celebrated music practices at the ring of a bell last weekend

Coastalong, an annual bike-powered music festival, took place in Drake Stadium for five hours of performance and pedalling on April 25. The stationary bikes – which generated the electricity that powered the event  were provided by Rock the Bike, an Oakland-based company that supplies “Pedal Powered” products for events. The sustainability-centered student organization invited five campus bands and headliner KELS to provide live music as spectators perused activity booths.

Though the festival saw some rainfall, Rock the Bike staff and the musicians adapted with tarps and tents to weather the gloomy skies
