The USA Elections Board disqualified a second general representative candidate from the Undergraduate Students Association Council elections Wednesday evening.
Brinaye Grant, a second-year education student, was disqualified for submitting incomplete and inaccurate campaign finance information, according to the board’s notice of disqualification.
Grant is the fifth candidate overall who the elections board has disqualified from the 2026-27 election cycle. Three transfer student representative candidates – as well as general representative candidate Susie Turner – were disqualified in the last two weeks for campaign finance issues.
Turner tried to appeal her case to the USA Judicial Board, but the board rejected her petition Wednesday night in a memo posted on social media.

The Elections Board alleged in the notice that Grant failed to include the cost of campaign-related printed materials in her initial finance report. Grant said in a written statement that she did not disclose her use of campaign flyers in the initial report because she obtained them for free, according to the notice.
Candidates are required to report both monetary expenditures and donations, according to the notice. They are not allowed to spend more than $200 of their own money on their campaign, the elections board allocates an additional $50 for each candidate, according to board guidelines.
In addition to reporting donated materials, candidates are expected to submit an estimated fair-market value for the donated items in their final reports – which are counted toward the $200 maximum, according to the notice.
Grant has until 8:48 p.m. Thursday to appeal her case to the USA Judicial Board, according to the notice. Grant did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“Accurate and complete financial disclosure is essential to preserving transparency, fairness, and equity within the election process,” said the board in the notice.
