UCLA baseball (52-8, 28-2 Big Ten) failed to qualify for the Men’s College World Series as the NCAA tournament’s No. 1 overall seed for the third time in program history since 2015 after falling to Los Angeles Regional No. 4 seed Saint Mary’s (36-27, 15-12 WCC) 6-5 in 10 innings at Jackie Robinson Stadium on May 31.
It was the Bruins’ second loss to the Gaels in three days, ending a season in which the former became the first team to ever spend the entire regular season as the No. 1 team in the country.
