“˜Post Grad’ hits home for many students
For many Bruins and millions of others across the country, the summer after graduating from college is one of constant job-searching, apartment-hunting and other difficulties that come with leaving school and entering the real world. While some may not need a reminder of this bumpy transition, those in search of some self-reflection can look to the aptly-titled film "Post Grad," which was partially filmed at UCLA and opens nationwide on Aug. 21. Musical adaptation on first tour
"Legally Blonde: The Musical" opened earlier this month at the Pantages Theater and stars Becky Gulsvig as UCLA fashion student-turned-aspiring lawyer Elle Woods. The production, which is on its first national tour, is based off the similarly named blockbuster movie starring Reese Witherspoon. Gulsvig was previously an understudy for the Broadway production, and this is her first tour in the starring role. Daily Bruin senior staff writer Amber Bissell sat down with Gulsvig to discuss her new lead role, bringing the musical to California for the first time and living up to the high expectations of the hit film. Theater Review: “Breaking and Entering”
The mysteriousness of the characters also helps in giving the play more layers as back stories reveal the characters' imperfections. As the play goes on, Trumbull's true character is revealed.
