UCLA alumna, filmmaker fuses documentary with narrative in ‘Below Dreams’

On a 37-hour bus ride from New York to New Orleans, Garrett Bradley held interviews with fellow passengers around her age. The conversations she had during that drive eventually culminated in her first feature film, “Below Dreams.” The UCLA alumna said she began these interviews on the Greyhound buses while on a break from school, and that at the time, she didn’t know what she was going to do with the material she acquired or that she would eventually transcribe the recordings and turn them into a film script.
