Artist spells out emotions through her minimalistic pieces

Michelle Jane Lee has her own alphabet. Instead of letters, Lee uses small blocks of color to express her feelings. Most of Lee’s bright, minimalistic paintings and drawings, which are being shown as part of the Cultural Affairs Commission’s Art Series in UCLA’s Kerckhoff Art Gallery until April 12, feature this alphabet that Lee invented. UCLA alumnus builds Lego art brick by brick

In a Working Theater, UCLA alumni push limits

After graduating in 2009, UCLA alumnus Matt Soson and his prospective acting career suffered from a string of rejections and one-dimensional roles. Disappointed by the quality of material he encountered, Soson drained the entirety of his savings and recruited fellow UCLA alumni for his play “The Lights Are Off.” Written and directed by Soson, the play premiered as part of Hollywood’s 2012 Fringe Festival.
