Grammys 2025: UCLA faculty, members of Decoda celebrate working on Grammy-nominated pieces

Catherine Gregory, a flutist and lecturer at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, and David Kaplan, a pianist and professor at the School of Music, are both members of the chamber music collective Decoda, which includes more than 30 musicians from around the country who work together on various concerts and songwriting projects. Grammys 2025: Grammy-nominated songwriter, alumnus KOLE discusses genre-spanning works

Boasting an extensive catalog of songwriting collaborations ranging from Meghan Trainor to Ingrid Michaelson, the ethnomusicology alumnus is recognized in this year’s Grammys for her work on Lalah Hathaway’s latest release “VANTABLACK.” Hathaway’s album is nominated in the prestigious Best R&B Album category, marking KOLE’s second Grammy recognition as a songwriter. Sinatra sisters donate Frank Sinatra’s celebrated piano to UCLA

This post was updated Jan. 26 at 8:40 p.m. A priceless piece of Frank Sinatra’s personal instrument collection has found a new home at UCLA. A 92-key historic Bösendorfer piano was unloaded at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music last month following a donation of the instrument by Frank Sinatra’s daughters, Nancy Sinatra and Tina Sinatra.
