UC-AFT secures contract agreement for Professional Librarians with UC

After months of negotiation, librarians have a new contract with the UC for higher wages and additional benefits. The UC announced Tuesday that it agreed to contract changes for librarians after 11 months of bargaining with the University Council-American Federation of Teachers – a union representing UC librarians and non-tenured faculty members. UCLA, Duke study finds detailed journalism affects local infrastructure spending

A UCLA and Duke University study found that reading high-information local journalism is correlated with support for funding local infrastructure. The study, conducted by Megan Mullin – a professor of public policy at UCLA – and Andrew Trexler – a doctoral candidate at Duke University – illustrates how local news can contribute positively to the health of infrastructure, said Trexler.
