Leonardo DiCaprio to fund scholarships, climate education at UCLA Lab School

UCLA student David Ramirez earns Point Foundation’s Flagship Scholar scholarship

Born in the San Fernando Valley to Mexican immigrant parents, fourth-year geography/environmental studies and labor studies student David Ramirez said he attended Pasadena City College before transferring to UCLA. UCLA Chancellor Gene Block announces 2024 retirement

Lawrence Kruger, UCLA professor and performing arts supporter, is dead at 93

Lawrence Kruger, an emeritus distinguished professor of neurobiology and supporter of the performing arts, died July 12 in Los Angeles. He was 93 years old. He is survived by his wife Virginia, two daughters and three grandchildren. Read more...

Richard Hovannisian, a UCLA professor of Armenian history dies at age 90

This post was updated July 30 at 7:10 p.m. Richard Hovannisian, an influential professor of Armenian history, died July 10. He was 90 years old. Hovannisian, who joined the history department in 1969 after completing his doctorate at UCLA, studied the history of the First Armenian Republic and the Armenian Genocide. Read more...
