Founders of tortilla company hope to eventually sell food to UCLA Dining

Ronald Alcazar spent years honing his family’s tortilla recipe with his mother for he and his brother’s new tortilla company. Today, the two UCLA alumni have their own tortilla factory and hope to sell their tortillas to UCLA Dining Services. Read more...

Photo: Anthony and Ronald Alcazar started their tortilla company, Mr. Tortilla, while Ronald Alcazar was attending UCLA in 2012. They have since opened their own factory and created different types of tortillas, such as one that is chipotle flavored.

New UCLA Library program will begin digitizing cultural items for preservation

A new conservation initiative at UCLA Library will help digitize at-risk cultural items and share them on a UCLA-hosted website. UCLA Library announced Oct. 9 the creation of Documenting Global Voices, a program that aims to preserve endangered symbolic materials of cultures. Read more...

AFSCME patient care workers plan strike against new employment terms

A University of California patient care worker union voted to authorize a strike. American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3299 patient care technical workers voted with 96 percent support to authorize the strike, according to an AFSCME news release. Read more...
