UCLA accused an ecologist of harassment. She’s now suing for discrimination.

A prominent UCLA ecologist on involuntary leave filed a lawsuit against the University earlier this month, alleging wrongful suspension, harassment and racial discrimination. Ecology and evolutionary biology professor Priyanga Amarasekare joined UCLA in 2005, but she was suspended in July 2022 for a year with no pay by then-Chancellor Gene Block. Read more...

SWC’s Healthcoming event features goat yoga, wellness education

Hundreds of people attended the Student Wellness Commission’s Healthcoming event, an annual fall health festival, on Wednesday. The Wilson Plaza festival showcased the commission’s offerings and provided an overview of UCLA’s health and wellness resources. Read more...

Faculty, students sue UC over violating protester rights in spring encampment

Two students and two faculty members filed a lawsuit against the UC on Tuesday, alleging the University has unfairly repressed pro-Palestine protests.  The lawsuit – filed by attorneys from the Southern California chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union – alleges the University violated the rights of protesters who participated in the spring Palestine Solidarity Encampment at UCLA.
