An immigration attorney explained President Donald Trump’s recent executive order on refugees and immigrants Wednesday, to about 50 students and faculty. Printing kiosks have replaced all printers in learning centers on the Hill as of Friday. UCLA Residential Life replaced the old printers in all of the residential learning centers with Wepa printing kiosks, which allow students to print files uploaded from cloud services like Google Drive and Dropbox. About 150 UCLA students have been directly affected by President Donald Trump’s travel ban on citizens and refugees from seven Muslim-majority countries. The executive director of the UCLA Early Care and Education program will step down from her position in March, university officials announced in late January. Jayanti Tambe will leave the center March 20 to pursue a doctoral degree in transformative social change, according to a letter sent by university officials to faculty and student parents. UCLA plans to open new low-cost housing apartments next year for underserved students. The housing project will be open to all students, but UCLA will reserve spaces for students from various groups under the Bruin Resource Center, including undocumented students, veterans and former foster youth, said Monroe Gorden Jr., interim vice chancellor of student affairs, in an interview with the Daily Bruin editorial board.
