UCLA group promotes awareness of undocumented students
UCLA’s undocumented student group will hold a series of events this week to call attention to undocumented individuals’ needs and how deportation affects their families. The Improving Dreams, Equality, Access and Success student group, which represents undocumented students at UCLA , will hold its annual “National Coming Out of the Shadows” week to highlight immigration reform and showcase stories of undocumented communities . Kappa Delta passes out blue balloons to boost confidence
Hundreds light blue balloons with inspirational messages written on them filled Westwood on Friday, as part of a campaign to boost confidence in young women. The campaign called “You Make Me Smile” is an annual event organized by the sorority Kappa Delta as part of the Confidence Coalition, the chapter’s national movement to help women and girls to stand up to peer pressure and end abusive relationships. Former MLB pitcher Chan Ho Park to speak at UCLA
Students from San Diego to Claremont will join UCLA’s international Korean student population Thursday in welcoming baseball legend Chan Ho Park to UCLA’s campus. In the wake of the 1997 East Asian financial crisis, South Korean citizens looked to the popular Korean baseball player and his success on the field for inspiration and hope, said Taebin Park, a first-year undeclared student and club member of the Global Leaders Association.
