Student groups call for USAC to defer stipend increase

Several student groups are calling for members of the undergraduate student government to defer their stipend increase until next year. About 10 student groups have signed a recently drafted letter that asks the members of the Undergraduate Students Association Council to put the money used to pay for their stipend raises back into a fund dedicated to supporting student groups. Ace Hagar, loving brother, genuine friend deceased

Ace Hagar, a third-year undeclared student, died Sept. 30 from injuries sustained in a car crash on Interstate 15. He was 24 years old. Hagar’s family and friends knew him as a loving brother and genuine friend who worked hard to attend his dream school, UCLA, and became the first in his family to go to college. Read more...

Student political groups debate at-issue items

The UCLA Bruin Democrats, Bruin Republicans and Bruin Libertarians faced off against one another for the first time at a debate on campus Tuesday night. The Political Science Student Organization organized the debate, which touched on issues such as the Affordable Care Act, prison reform, immigration reform and the recent government shutdown.
