Court rules UCLA not liable for criminal acts among students

A state appeals court concluded Wednesday public universities and community colleges are not responsible for protecting students from criminal acts by other students. The decision is a response to a lawsuit a UCLA student filed against the University of California Board of Regents and UCLA officials in 2010, after another student attacked her with a kitchen knife. UCLA punter arrested on suspicion of rape, suspended from team

UCLA backup punter Adam Searl was arrested Thursday for allegedly raping another student. Searl met the student at an off-campus party last October, police said. Searl accompanied her to a residence, where she fell asleep and woke up to him sexually assaulting her. Read more...

LAPD determines suspicious package did not contain bomb

Police determined Wednesday that a suspicious package on Kelton Avenue did not contain a bomb. The Los Angeles Police Department received a call around noon reporting a suspicious cardboard box, said Arren Jefferson, LAPD spokesperson. Read more...

UCPD arrest student for allegedly inappropriately touching children

A UCLA student was arrested Tuesday for allegedly inappropriately touching three children during a UCLA women’s soccer match at Drake Stadium on Sept. 25.
