LA County announces end to indoor mask requirement for fully vaccinated individuals

This post was updated Feb. 24 at 5:32 p.m. Los Angeles County will lift its indoor mask mandate in places requiring vaccine verification beginning Friday.  Based on declining COVID-19 cases and test positivity rates, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced in a press release Wednesday that fully vaccinated individuals will no longer be required to wear masks indoors, provided businesses verify their vaccination status. LA County passes motion to decriminalize bike violations

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion in mid-November to take steps to decriminalize bike violations. The board motion followed a Los Angeles Times article that found racial disparities in how LA County sheriff’s deputies handled bike stops. Read more...

UC Board of Regents, plaintiffs reach $243.6 million settlement with James Heaps

UC researchers explore poor conditions faced by workers in fast-food industry

A recent report from UCLA researchers and UC Berkeley researchers analyzed the lack of protections for fast-food workers during the COVID-19 pandemic among other issues. The researchers began the study after Los Angeles County and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors requested a study on working conditions in fast-food establishments within the county, said Kevin Riley, a researcher for the study.
