UCLA Transportation commissioned two new zero-emissions shuttles to run through Westwood and help the university make strides toward its sustainability goals. A team of UCLA and USC researchers found that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on marginalized communities in Los Angeles. COVID-19 may have been in the Los Angeles area before the first identified cases in the United States, according to a UCLA-led study. The researchers analyzed electronic health records from more than 2.5 million annual patient visits across three hospitals and 180 clinics in the LA area between July 2014 and February, according to the study published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research. University police are investigating phone calls from people impersonating police and demanding payment. Several members of the UCLA community received calls from a person who claimed to be from campus police starting mid-September, according to a UCPD crime alert. Read more...
