Union workers stage protest over low wages for UC employees

Union members temporarily disrupted traffic in Westwood on Tuesday as they protested what they called low wages for University of California employees. Teamsters Local 2010, the union representing administrative, clerical and skilled trades workers, held the protest a day after a study revealed that 70 percent of UC clerical workers are food insecure. Safety task force report emphasizes emergency training, notifications

The UCLA Campus Safety Task Force recommended that the university improve emergency-preparedness training and campuswide notifications for future emergencies such as shootings and natural disasters. In a report released to students, faculty and staff Tuesday, the task force gave 21 recommendations to Chancellor Gene Block about making infrastructure improvements, increasing emergency training and improving campus communication. Two Westwood Neighborhood Council members resign, leave open seats

Two members of the Westwood Neighborhood Council recently resigned after moving away from Los Angeles. Eugene Tseng, a rental residential group director, resigned Sep. 23 to serve in the Taiwanese military, said WWNC President Lisa Chapman. Read more...

Bruins for Hillary visits Nevada to campaign for upcoming election

Students supporting Hillary Clinton traveled across state lines to campaign for the Democratic presidential candidate over the weekend. Bruins for Hillary organized a day trip to Las Vegas on Saturday, where 10 volunteers knocked on doors to convince voters to support Clinton and the Democratic Senate candidate for Nevada, Catherine Cortez Masto.
