BruinCards to serve as room keys starting fall 2016
Beginning fall 2016, students will use BruinCards instead of separate room keys to access their dorm rooms, UCLA Housing officials said. Barbara Wilson, associate director of room operations for UCLA Housing, said officials and students were initially concerned someone could enter a student’s room with just his or her BruinCard. Gov. Brown’s budget proposal raises state funding to UC by 4.7 percent
The University of California will receive $356 million more in state funding, according to Gov. Jerry Brown’s $170 billion budget proposal announced Thursday. This year’s proposal allocated 4.7 percent more funding to the UC than last year’s budget. Read more...

ASUCLA allows students to compare textbook prices online
This quarter, UCLA students can compare prices of textbooks sold by different vendors on an Associated Students UCLA-launched website extension. The extension, introduced as part of the ASUCLA textbook website, lists options for course materials available from different companies such as Amazon, AbeBooks and Barnes & Noble. Read more...

Weekend BruinBus to shuttle students to key LA locations
Students will be able to take free Saturday BruinBus shuttles to one of three Los Angeles shopping districts beginning this weekend, UCLA officials said.
