The graduate student government voted Wednesday to reduce the number of signatures that candidates must collect to run for office from 50 to 30. Assemblyman proposes bill to limit UC employee salaries to $500,000
A state legislator introduced a state Assembly bill last week that would cap annual compensation for all University of California employees at $500,000 a year. Assembly Bill 837 was introduced by Assemblyman Roger Hernández, who said he thinks capping employee compensation will free up more University resources for students, according to a press statement Wednesday. GSA votes against rejoining UCSA
The graduate student government voted unanimously Wednesday night to not rejoin the University of California Student Association because of concerns over membership fees. To rejoin UCSA, which advocates for UC students, the Graduate Students Association would have to pay about $16,000 annually for membership. Read more...

FDA advises continued use of medical device linked to superbug outbreak

Transgender community seeks safer campus environment at protest
Zo Anthony Shay yelled Tuesday afternoon. He marched to Chancellor Gene Block’s office, demanding a safer campus for transgender students. At night, as candles flickered at a vigil at the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Campus Resource Center, Shay, a fourth-year ethnomusicology student and a transgender man, hugged his friends, thanking them for their solidarity.
