Transgender community seeks safer campus environment at protest

Zo Anthony Shay yelled Tuesday afternoon. He marched to Chancellor Gene Block’s office, demanding a safer campus for transgender students. At night, as candles flickered at a vigil at the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Campus Resource Center, Shay, a fourth-year ethnomusicology student and a transgender man, hugged his friends, thanking them for their solidarity. Course examining social aspects of Greek life to be offered for spring

Students will be able to take a course examining social behavior in Greek life through extensive discussion and artistic performances starting spring quarter. World Arts and Cultures 174A, a two-unit course titled “Desire on Campus: UCLA Sororities and Fraternities Move It Forward,” will take the form of an action conversation, which is a method of expression that includes deep discussion as well as dance and theater performances, said co-instructor Victoria Marks, a professor of choreography. Panera Bread to open location in Westwood Village

Panera Bread plans to open a location in Westwood Village at the start of May, following a years-long battle to open the restaurant’s doors. The location on Westwood Boulevard has had a “Coming Soon” sign on its storefront windows since early 2013, but has postponed its opening because of complications with a Westwood land-use plan.
