California bans legacy admissions at higher education institutions

A new law will soon ban legacy admissions across California universities. Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill in September banning all California higher education institutions from considering donor status or whether a candidate had a family member attend the institution as part of admissions decisions beginning in September 2025. ‘The most beautiful part of Powell’: Students applaud reopened main reading room

For the first time in two years, UCLA students can use the Powell Library Main Reading Room. In fall 2022, the library’s main reading room shut down for seismic renovations to meet updated building codes, said Allison Benedetti – associate university librarian for teaching, learning and research – in a written statement. BruinsVote election watch party brings politically interested students together

As election results trickled in Nov. 5, UCLA students gathered to watch in Pauley Pavillion. BruinsVote – a nonpartisan group led by the Undergraduate Students Association Council and Graduate Student Association – hosted the event, which featured food, drinks and large screens for attendees to watch election results. Students share their notes on UCLA study spots’ pros and cons

To find the perfect study spot at UCLA, students have to race for available seats and wrestle one another for power outlets. UCLA has 22 outdoor study spaces, 30 indoor study spaces and eight libraries, according to the UCLA website. Read more...
