Measure on affirmative action not to be on Calif. ballot

California voters will not be able to vote this year on a measure that would have allowed state universities to consider race in admissions decisions. The voter measure, Senate Constitutional Amendment 5, would have overturned part of California’s voter-approved ban on affirmative action by allowing universities to increase racial diversity by considering a college applicant’s race. UCPD recovers stolen goods, returns them to Westwood residents

University police arrested two men early Sunday morning in connection with the burglary of a Westwood apartment. Police officers on foot patrol spotted Michael Bender, 19, and Christian Bridges, 18, walking in the North Village at about 1:30 a.m., carrying large backpacks, said Nancy Greenstein, spokeswoman for UCPD.
