Government shutdown’s impact on colleges currently minimal

For the first time in 17 years, the federal government has stopped operating many of its agencies due to Congress’ failure to agree on a spending bill in time. The University of California Education Abroad Program will be offering six new programs for the 2014-2015 year, which students can enroll in beginning this year.
