UCLA investigates theft

More than $250,000 has been embezzled by a university employee who deposited stolen university checks into their own account, authorities said Friday. The employee worked for a physician at a clinic affiliated with UCLA and is being investigated by both the university police and the UCLA Audit and Advisory Services, said University Police Detective Richard Elias. Forum covers threat of AIDS in Africa

Studies and projects done by HIV/AIDS activists and researchers from all over the world were presented Friday at Kaufman Hall at a conference titled “AIDS in Africa.” The symposium, presented by the UCLA AIDS Institute, consisted of three panels, speakers Stephen Lewis and Laurie Garrett, and performances by Iddi Saaka and Peter Carpenter.
