UC budget doesn’t cut into Howland’s salary

Most faculty oppose semester switch

UCLA faculty’s overwhelming desire to stay with the quarter system was announced Tuesday during the third Legislative Assembly meeting of the year. Editorial: USAC owes its support to U.S. troops

Director’s contribution to Chicano movement honored

Director and playwright Luis Valdez was honored with the UCLA Cesar E. Chavez Spirit Award for 2003 on Wednesday evening. An accomplished contributor to the Chicana/o movement, Valdez was honored for his work in theater and film, which has advocated Chicana/o rights through the years. Read more...



UCLA community shows concern over SARS

Anne Cheung, a first-year psychology student, spent spring break in Hong Kong with her family. Her mother wanted her there to celebrate her twentieth birthday. Cheung wasn’t concerned about severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS, until she stepped off the plane and walked onto the streets of Hong Kong, where everyone had on a mask and fear of the virus was rampant.
